Carroll Co. school bus crashes into embankment after driver suffers medical emergency Monday

WESTMINSTER, Md. — The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office says a school bus crashed into an embankment Monday afternoon, after its driver suffered a medical emergency.

It happened just before 3:40 pm in the area of Route 32 and Deer Park Road.

Immediately upon their arrival, deputies began treating the 70-year-old man from Westminster, until medics could arrive.

At the time of the crash, four students and one other adult were aboard the bus.

One of the students, an 8-year-old boy, was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

The bus sustained only minor damage and was able to be driven away from the scene.

The official cause of the collision remains under investigation. No citations have been issued.
