PASADENA, Md. (WMAR) — The commander of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department's Lake Shore Fire Station fell unconscious while getting ready to go on a call Sunday afternoon.

It happened just before 1 p.m., when firefighters were dressing to respond out for a house fire in Jacobsville.

Officials say 62-year-old Captain Donald Kelley, a 33-year veteran of the fire department was found by another member unconscious on the floor of the engine bay.

Medics performed CPR on Kelley and transported him to Baltimore Washington Medical Center where he remains hospitalized.

It's unclear what caused Kelley to collapse.
