EDGEWATER, Md. — Anne Arundel County officials say an adult male drowned in Edgewater Thursday night.
According to the fire department, firefighters responded to a 911 call at a little after 8:40 p.m. in Waterhouse Creek, in the area of Slama Road, for a possible drowning. The 911 caller said that a male patient jumped in the water and didn't resurface.
The callers were trying to locate him. However, when firefighters arrived, they found bystanders at the end of the pier holding a male patient's head above water. The patient, who's estimated to be in his mid-20s, was removed from the water by firefighters and, after realizing that he was in cardiac arrest, they began resuscitative efforts.
Those efforts, however, were unsuccessful and the patient was declared deceased on the scene.
