COLUMBIA, Md. — Howard County police are investigating a fatal collision that took place just before 1 p.m. in Columbia on Friday.
Police say a 2015 Toyota Rav4 was traveling northbound on Route 29 north of Broken Land Parkway when it left the roadway for an unknown reason and struck a barrier.
The driver, 71-year-old Mark Richmond was the only person in the vehicle was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Police believe Richmond may have suffered a medical emergency prior to the crash.
The crash is still under investigation.
