Maryland Food Bank - Increased Demand

Posted
and last updated

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Maryland Food Bank is facing more demand than ever.

The organization gave out 5 million pounds of food last month, compared to 4 million the month before. However, the last million pounds came in the last 10 days of the month, and demand has almost doubled in the last three weeks alone.

As unemployment grows and the food chain is disrupted, food insecurity becomes a larger problem for more Marylanders. The Maryland Food Bank is built for this and they are the experts, but they need more resources to fulfill this urgent need at this critical time in our history.

WMAR has partnered with the Maryland Food Bank to help raise funds and encourage donations. Learn more here.
