MARYLAND- State employees will get more paid time off when they become new parents.

They'll have an additional 60 days of paid leave after the giving birth or adoption of a child under age six.  They can use those days anytime within the first six months.

Right now, they can use 30 days and they must be used all at once.

Governor Larry Hogan also says he'll introduce legislation to create tax credits to encourage small businesses to provide parental benefits as well.

The state-worker benefit begins Monday.
