A 6-year-old girl is dead and two others were critically injured during a single car crash in Maryland City on Monday.
Firefighters found a heavily damaged car down an embankment in the area of Baltimore Washington Parkway near Route 198 just before 11:00 p.m. The car was wedged between two trees and on its side, with two men trapped inside.
It took crews around 45 minutes to extricate the driver of the car, and an additional 30 minutes to get the other passenger. Both have critical, life-threatening injuries.
A 6-year-old child was also in the car and crews found her in a brush near the wrecked car. Paramedics declared her dead at the scene.
When crews initially got to the scene they were told by a witness that the car had run into the median strip and then drove down the embankment. No other information regarding the cause of the crash has been released at this time.
