Maryland Transportation Authority Police arrested a man Tuesday morning for having a loaded semi-automatic handgun in his carry on bag at BWI Airport's security checkpoint.
Officials say the gun was spotted through the TSA x-ray monitor when the man's carry-on entered the machine. They say he had a 9 mm caliber loaded with 12 bullets.
Police confiscated the guns and arrested the man on weapon charges.
This incident brought the total number of firearms that TSA officers have detected at BWI Airport to 23 this year.
