BALTIMORE — People in Baltimore are getting ready to celebrate the start of the new year, and thousands will head to the Inner Harbor for the festivities.

Baltimore will be hosting its New Year's Eve Spectacular event once again this year. Music will ring out from live performances along the promenade, and a fireworks show is set to dazzle crowds shortly after the calendar turns to 2019.

Baltimore City police are doing their best to make sure the event is not only fun, but also safe for everyone.

“If anyone is planning to come downtown to the Inner Harbor, we encourage everyone to have a plan before you come downtown,” said Baltimore Police spokesman Jeremy Silberts. “Know the route you're going to take to and from the event you're going to, and also know where you're going to park once you get down here“

This year the event starts at 9 p.m. Monday and runs until 12:30 a.m.
