After Howard County Police responded to a suspected overdose death on Saturday, police said there was a total of 228 overdoses responded to in 2017.
The tally included both fatal and non-fatal overdoses.
Police want to remind citizens that if they or someone they know needs help, they can always call the Maryland Suicide Hotline any time of the day at 800-422-0009.
