Fire and Rescue crews have called of a search for a small plane that was originally thought to have gone down in a heavily wooded area.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service Spokesman Pete Piringer says after a thorough search and no findings, it has been concluded that no downed plane was in the area.

Montgomery County officials were initially contacted by Frederick County between 8:30 and 8:45 p.m. Monday evening, reporting that GPS and Emergency Location Transmitter data indicated a plane likely went down in Montgomery County.

Information received suggested the plane may have been between Whites Ferry and Edwards Ferry along River Road in the Dickerson and Poolesville area of the county.

A search was conducted, utilizing helicopters, boats and other rescue services which all resulted in no sightings of the reported downed plane.
