ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Birthdays are important when you are a kid, but finding ways to celebrate while quarantined can be tough.
"Our daughter Layla loves birthdays. Our baby girl turned three years old, with all the expectations of the best birthday party ever, and none of the concerns surrounding so many of us at this time," explained Kevin Brown.
But the Brown family was up for the challenge and ended up making quite the splash.
"I thought the most difficult thing was going to be convincing my wife to fill a pool in our new house, but she was totally on board with everything," Kevin said.
That's right... the Brown family put a pool in their living room and played Layla's favorite movie, Frozen 2, while she swam around.
"She woke up from her nap, saw the pool and she was absolutely thrilled. She ran right upstairs to get her bathing suit, and back down to make splashes in her new living room pool."
In addition to her indoor swim, Layla got to open presents and have a cake... and the Brown's still had one more surprise left.
They got family members and friends to send her birthday shout-outs so Layla could still see her loved ones on her special day.
"Through all of this we just felt so connected to the moment that we were creating. We didn't have any worries," said Kevin. "We were just happy that she was excited. That was the only thing on our minds."
Overall, the Browns had a day... and mess... they will never forget.
