Kelly Swoope joined the WMAR-2 News team in July 2003, and it's been home ever since. Kelly anchors the news at 5, 6, 7 and 11.
In addition to volunteer work with Casey Cares, Johns Hopkins Medicine, the Baltimore City Health Department and Komen Maryland over the years, Kelly is very active in her sorority, Delta Sigma Theta and Jack and Jill Baltimore chapter.
Kelly has spent most of her career working for Scripps. Kelly's first job out of school was at the Scripps station in Cincinnati working on the assignment desk answering phones and making coffee until she was promoted to an Associate Producer. From Cincinnati, she landed her first reporting job in Milwaukee. Her desire to get away from the cold and snow led her back to our Scripps station in sunny Florida where she worked as a reporter and weekend anchor. Kelly lives in Baltimore County with her husband Tim and their daughter Taylor.
Kelly's focus is on good community news stories and helping businesses to shine. While she's covered her share of crazy news stories over the years, Kelly's oddest job came well before her career as a journalist. Her first job was behind the counter as a popcorn girl at a movie theater during high school.
