A woman was attacked by a bear near Middletown in Frederick County Wednesday night, according to Maryland Natural Resources Police.
Police said the woman, identified as 63-year-old Karen Osborne, was attacked on her property in the 7600 block of Iron Gate Lane around 9:20 p.m. A biologist and the Bear Response Team responded to the scene.
A 50 pound bear cub was spotted in a tree nearby. The woman was taken to a Hagerstown hospital for treatment of puncture wounds to both arms, a broken arm and cuts to her head.
The bear was later located and euthanized.
