RANDALLSTOWN, Md. — A new library and recreation center is coming to Randallstown.

Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski announced plans to acquire a property in the 8200 block of Liberty Road.

The library and rec center would be located in spaces formerly occupied by Ollie's Bargain Outlet and Shoppers supermarket.

State and local funding would be set aside to build the $41 million joint state-of-the-art facility.

The new location is about a mile away from the current Randallstown Library, which has stood since 1967.

There are no plans for now to close that location, although space is limited, hence the reason for a new library double the size.

As for the rec portion, officials say it will include a walking track and indoor courts for pickleball, basketball, volleyball and soccer.

There's no time frame on when the center will open, but the County hopes to host a community input meeting at a time to be determined.
