According to Baltimore County Police, a pedestrian was hit and killed by a van Wednesday afternoon.

Just before 3:30 p.m., county police responded to a pedestrian-involved crash at Pulaski Highway and Rossville Boulevard. The preliminary investigation showed that the pedestrian, 44-year-old George Galen Nelson, III, was struck by a 2006 Ford E250 van that had been traveling west on Pulaski Highway. Investigators say that Nelson was struck after he entered the path of the van and that the driver remained on the scene following the crash.

Nelson was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, where, shortly after arriving, he was pronounced dead.

Detectives noticed that the intersection did not have a crosswalk or a pedestrian signal. However, they are continuing to investigate this incident.
