ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Maryland shoppers in need of new appliances can take advantage of savings next weekend as part of the annual Shop Maryland Energy weekend, Comptroller Peter Franchot’s office announced Thursday.
The program runs from Friday, Feb. 16 to Monday, Feb. 18. During those three days, shoppers can buy qualifying ENERGY STAR appliances and not pay state taxes on the purchases. A list of ENERGY STAR items can be found online.
The comptroller will be making appearances at retailers across the state during the initiative's weekend to help promote the initiative.
“This program boosts sales during an otherwise down time for businesses and gives consumers an incentive to purchase energy-efficient appliances,” Franchot said.
