MECHANICSVILLE, Md. — The actions of a Maryland deputy has garnered national attention.

On October 5, Corporal Maloy of the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office, stopped traffic when he saw someone in a wheelchair trying to cross Golden Beach Road in Mechanicsville.

Maloy didn't stop there, he went above and beyond the call of duty and pushed the pedestrian safely across the street.

The kind gesture was photographed by onlookers, who forwarded them to the Sheriff's Office to be posted on social media.
