ANNAPOLIS, ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY — The Anne Arundel County community is rallying behind those in need. Volunteers created a pop up pantry at Tyler Heights Elementary School and have distributed food and household supplies to 30,000 people since the pandemic began.
Kari Benoit is a mother on a mission to collect one of the pantry's most needed items. Diapers are the hardest supply to collect because they are expensive and it is difficult to get people to donate more than once. Kari's family has had tremendous success in collecting them.
"My family has collected and distributed 140,000 diapers which is about 7,000 a week. We've done it through family, friends, neighbors, teammates of my girls' sports teams," Kari Benoit says.
Donations to Kari's cause can be made throught The Walk The Walk Foundation. You will need to specify that you would like your contribution sent to the pop up pantry at Tyler Heights Elementary School.
The pop up pantry is open the first and third Saturday of every month. Tyler Heights Elementary School is located at 200 Janwall Street in Annapolis. Anyone living in or outside of the Anne Arundel County community is welcome to stop by for help.
