HARFORD COUNTY, md. — High school athletes in Harford County are thinking pink with a fundraiser for breast cancer research.

Volleyball players are coming together for the annual Dig Pink event to raise money for The Side-Out Foundation.

Since high school sports are delayed because of the pandemic, students have formed their own teams for a friendly competition to carry on this tradition.

"Even though our seasons were taken away at the high school level, we didn't that taken away from our dig pink fundraising. Being the tenth year we've done it in Harford County, we wanted to keep up the momentum. Last year we raised almost $10,000 for Side-Out," Amy Markland, Dig Pink Coordinator of Harford County said.

Games begin next week without spectators and athletes will adhere to recommended safety guidelines.
