Ivy's Tea Co. wins $10k in contest to expand business that combines tea and hip hop culture

HOWARD COUNTY — Congratulations are in order for Ivy's Tea Co.! The Howard County business just won $10,000 in the Seagrams Escapes contest. It is one of three black owned businesses selected out of two thousand applicants selected for the grant.

Founder Shanae Jones says the grant will give Ivy's Tea Co. a big boost. Jones started the business five years ago on a unique platform that combines traditional tea and hip hop culture. Many products have catchy names to honor stars like Beyonce and Cardi B.

Jones plans to use the grant money to expand her business, hire employees and buy a food cart. Ivy's Tea Co. is based out of Laurel and has a warehouse in Lanham. Products can be ordered on https://www.ivystea.com/.
