BALTIMORE — Major League Baseball is now offering college scholarships as part of its black history month challenge.
High school students can apply for the essay contest on https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-black-history-month-challenge-scholarship. Applicants must complete an interactive thirty minute course that focuses on lesser known stories about black history. It also highlights black entrepreneurs and contributions to medicine. Students will be asked to submit an essay on what they have learned.
Three winners will be selected for this opportunity. The first place winner will receive a $10,000 scholarship for college. The second place student will get a $6,000 award and the third place winner will receive $4,000 towards a college education. Applicants have until February 28 to enter.
