BALTIMORE — The Maryland SPCA is hosting a weekly story time to connect people with pets at the shelter.

Children have the opportunity to read to animals virtually through Zoom. Readers can select as many books as they would like to their new four legged friends. It is a great way to practice reading skills in a non-judgmental setting and a fun, rewarding experience for all involved.

"The biggest thing that people always say to me is well do the animals actually listen. Do they like it? They reall do. It really helps first of all children to practice those skills without judgment. Animals don't care if you mess up a word. It allows them to enhance those skills and feel more positive and comfortable doing that and it also helps the animals. It helps them to relax especially in a shelter environment," Katie Florey, Community Relations Director at the MDSPCA said.

Wagging Tales Reading Hour is held every Thursday at 4P.M.
