If you have old, gently-used prom dresses at home the Baltimore County Public Library system is willing to take those off your hands.

The library is taking donations of formal attire for their "Prom Closet", this includes suits for the guys. The 2 day event will happen in April, but the library is accepting donations now.

This is the 2nd year the BCPL has collected dresses at their 19 locations. In 2019 they collected more than 2,000 dresses.

Erica Palmisano, with the Baltimore County Public Library says a lot of students who use the library have said prom is not an option for them, due to the cost. Between the tickets, clothing, shoes and everything else that goes with prom for many it is just not feasible. So "Prom Closet" was started.

Donations can be dropped off between now and February 21st at any Baltimore County Public Library location.

Prom Closet will be held on Saturday, April 4 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, April 5 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the North Point and Owings MIllsbranches.

Teens will be able to try on clothing and leave ready for the big dance.
