TOWSON, Md. — For the first time in more than 20 years, Towson University has a new look.
The old logo featured the black and gold colors of the university with the school's full name. Now, the brand focuses on the school being known as "TU".
A communications spokesperson with the University said research on the new brand began in 2016 and in 2018 the new brand mark was created. Workshops will be held around campus to help anyone using anything with the new logo.
University President Kim Schatzel said in a statement, "“This contemporary identity nods to our history, but also clearly states what Towson University is today. Our momentum is strong, and growing even stronger. I hope each of you will proudly wear and share this new TU brand mark as we boldly tell the contemporary story of TU and together write the next chapter of TU’s story.”
This only impacts the academic logo. The Towson University athletic teams will still have the Tiger logo.
Anyone who has questions about the new brand can contact Towson University's brand team at brandteam@towson.edu.
