The Baltimore City Law Department will host an expungement clinic as part of the WorkBaltimore Empowerment to Employment Convention.
The second annual convention is designed to target unemployment and job skills gaps among jobseekers.
The two-day event will include work readiness workshops, job training and skills resources, and will feature several speakers.
The expungement clinic will help job seekers file petitions for the removal of certain court and police records.
"The issue of expungement can be very challenging and complex for some people in our city, and yet there are simple answers that can be provided to these people,” said city solicitor Andre Davis. “For example, a lot of people don't realize that not only arrest records can be expunged, but certain conviction records can be expunged."
The clinic will include a presentation on the process for securing an expungement. Volunteers will meet with those seeking expungement to review their records and help applicants fill out the necessary forms.
WorkBaltimore will be held at the Baltimore Convention Center Wednesday, September 26 and Thursday, September 27 from noon to 5 p.m.
