Howard County man sentenced to 42 years for human trafficking, drug possession

HOWARD COUNTY, Md. — A 49-year-old man was sentenced to 42 years on Friday for drug possession and human trafficking in Howard County.

Ronald Willis Cheek pleaded guilty in January to two counts of drug possession and was convicted on four counts of human trafficking in a seperate case.

In July 2019, Howard County Police received a tip about suspicious activity at the Terrace Motel in the 6200 block of Washington Blvd. When officers arrived on scene, they found four women ranging in age from 20 to 28 in the motel.

Once inside the rooms that the women stayed in, officers recognized signs of possible human trafficking.
