Howard County police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Saturday night in Ellicott City and are searching for the suspect, Rane Dellinger.
Officers responded to a call in the 4200 block of Montgomery Road just before 10 p.m. Saturday after a man was shot while sitting in his parked vehicle. Once on the scene, officers found Jacob Robert Mauer dead in the vehicle.
Preliminary investigations suggest that Mauer, Dellinger and a friend were using drugs while sitting in the car, parked behind a building.
Detectives believe Dellinger fired one shot which hit Mauer, and then left the scene.
An arrest warrant for Rane Dellinger has been obtained and detectives are encouraging him to to turn himself in to police.
