ANNAPOLIS, Md. — The Naval Academy will keep close tabs on Midshipmen this Thanksgiving, not allowing them to travel over the long holiday weekend.
On Tuesday the Naval Academy said normal classes will be held the day before Thanksgiving, and the day after.
"This decision was based on the COVID-19 environment on the Yard, in the local Annapolis area, and around the country. It also included an evaluation of health risks to midshipmen who would potentially have traveled to be with family over the Thanksgiving holiday," the Naval Academy said in a statement.
Administration officials are still weighing whether or not midshipmen will be allowed to spend time locally with their families on Thanksgiving Day.
The fall semester ends December 3, followed by the last day of final exams on December 11.
Plans for winter leave and the spring academic schedule is still under consideration.
