Get your rod and reel ready, even if you don't have a Maryland fishing license.

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources is holding license-free fishing days on June 1, June 8 and July 4th.

On these dates you don't need a license, trout stamp or registration to fish in Maryland waters, although you do need to follow the current size and catch limits. Click here for an online guide for size and catch limits.

"We are lucky to live in a state where you can fish in fresh, brackish and salt water, often all in the same day if you want," said Recreational Fishing Outreach Coordinator Erik Zlokovitz. "This opportunity allows recreational anglers to try their hand at something new before committing to a license."

You are also encouraged to log your catches on the Maryland Angler's Log
