Breakfast lovers, rejoice.
The Iron Rooster’s newest location in Baltimore is now open for business.
After spending five months knocking down walls and reconfiguring a former sports bar and pizza shop, founder Kyle Algaze and his team are ready for you to try their homemade pop tarts at their new spot in McHenry Row.
It’s not their largest location (that’s in Hunt Valley) but it is big enough where they can have a pop tart station. You don’t realize you need this in your life until you see it.
“You can watch pop tarts being made on a daily basis so that’s pretty cool,” said Algaze.
The bar is spacious (it’s on the side where the Greene Turtle use to be) and the restaurant can seat 200. You’ll find all the usual breakfast items on the menu and an expanded dinner menu. That's for the people you bring to the Iron Rooster who don’t want to eat pancakes at 7 p.m.
“We’ve always tried to take regular food that people know and put our twist on it and make something better,” Algaze said.
Even with a restaurant in Canton, Algaze says he was excited about opening a new spot in McHenry Row.
“I thought there would be nothing better than put one right smack dab in the middle of Baltimore City and give us the opportunity to affect the community in a positive way.”
Community is huge for Algaze, who also has a location in Annapolis, and no matter how national and global the Iron Rooster becomes, he’ll remember where it all started.
“We always look to try to help wherever we can. We’re a local Maryland company and we’ll always continue to try to be that, even if we grow to a much large scale, we’ll always remember our roots.”
One community event they’re very excited to take part in is the Komen Maryland “Race for the Cure” event on October 15, which is being held at McHenry Row. I thinking pink pop tarts?
