Blind Industries and Services of Maryland is dedicated to providing career and training resources to low vision and blind people in Maryland. BISM works with people of all ages, including youths.
BISM offers three youth programs for blind and low vision students: Work to Independence, Independence 101, and GLIDE.
Work to Independence (high school) and Independence 101 (middle school) are summer programs geared towards improving blindness skills and building confidence through classes, activities, and travel. The GLIDE program is a series of workshops running the course of the school year, aimed towards helping high school students and recent graduates find employment or enroll in higher education.
