The Helping Up Mission assists men dealing with substance abuse issues and homelessness. Many HUM residents have not received adequate medical care while dealing with addiction issues.
GBMC Health Partners has now expanded its access to the entire Jonestown community to deliver advanced primary care to the hundreds of HUM residents and more than 1,500 alumni, who are encouraged to maintain their recovery and remain accountable through the HUM Alumni Program.
The GBMC Health Partners team manages the care of their patients, both in providing preventive care treatments (immunizations, screening tests, etc.) as well as managing any chronic diseases, like hypertension or diabetes. The team connects patients to specialists when needed. What makes this relationship even more special is that it brings GBMC back to its roots; the site of GBMC at Helping Up Mission once housed the Presbyterian Eye, Ear and Throat Charity Hospital, one of GBMC's founding institutions.
