Memorial Day weekend is the official start of the summer, and thousands of people will be traveling to the beach for a summer vacation from now until September.
The last thing you want are any kinks, such as foot and back pain, to inhibit your vacation. Flip flops are easy to love. They’re easy to wear and help to keep your feet cool. Dr. Jamie Johnston, an orthopedic surgeon at GBMC says flip flops are fine for the pool or beach, but extended daily wear can lead to foot or back pain. Additionally, look for sandals with a thicker sole and arch support. Thin, rubber soled flip flops don't offer the proper arch support or protection against rocks or other hazards on the ground like nails and broken glass.
