Local business goes virtual to teach you how to garden

GLEN BURNIE, Md. — Teaching an outdoor and interactive activity through a camera may sound a bit strange, but for Kim Roman it's becoming her new normal.

Roman owns Square Foot Gardening 4 U, a business that teaches people how to create and maintain a garden. Usually she has engagements and classes she teaches at, but with people being forced to quarantine she had to find a way to adapt.

She actually thought of running virtual lessons about a year ago, but she didn't have time. Now that time is ample and she has less classes to teach, it seemed like the perfect time to start.

Roman started with a free virtual Gardening 101 class that she posted on her Facebook, but now for a small fee you can get more personal and in depth lessons. For $10, which is cheaper than her regular sessions, Roman will do a one and a half hour long Zoom Square Foot Gardening 101 class. She will also do a Q&A at the end.

The goal of teaching these virtual classes is to get people outside and in the sunshine during a time when it's easy to stay inside. She also says it's a great activity for parents to do with kids!
