BALTIMORE COUNTY — Firefighters were called to the scene of a house explosion late Saturday night.
The incident happened on Crafton Road in Essex.
Officials say BGE, Hazmat and fire investigators were called to the scene. The home was engulfed in flames and crews worked to put out that fire.
“I was lying in bed and I just heard a boom and felt the house move and next thing you know all the activity got started here last night,” neighbor Keith Jacobs describes what he witnessed that night.
The fire department says that there was a man in the house who was injured but he is expected to be okay.
“It’s been quite some time since we had an explosion of a home it’s very dangerous. We believe the time at 11 PM there were some people out on the street kids playing in the neighborhood, says Travis Francis with Baltimore County Fire. "It was a nice day, so do you know those are some fortunate facts but it’s still very unfortunate. What took place here in this community they’re not gonna forget it.”
Baltimore County Police, ATF and Maryland State Police are assisting with the investigation.
The cause of the explosion is under investigation.
