UPDATE: Hooper's Crab House has reopened after a fire on Thursday night left it severely damaged.

ORIGINAL STORY: Firefighters responded to a fire at Hooper's Crab House in West Ocean City Thursday evening.

According to the Ocean City Fire Department, crews were called out to the crab house for a report of a fire just after 7:30 p.m.

Crews quickly found a fire in the kitchen behind an appliance.

The fire broke out at a busy time in the restaurant. The crab house was at full capacity at the time and staff got everyone out safely.

There were no injuries, but the fire caused extensive damage to the kitchen. The restaurant is expected to remain closed for repairs for several days.

The Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office responded to the scene and conducted a fire scene examination and ruled the fire accidental.
