BALTIMORE — Homeless shelters give people in need a roof over their heads, but they are often not a permanent place to stay.

New projects hope to change that.

Baltimore announced nearly $30 million dollars in awards from its housing accelerator fund today.

13 building companies across the city will use the money to fund permanent supportive housing.

The special affordable housing includes services to teach independent living skills and connect people with healthcare and employment.
