CARROLL COUNTY, Md. — A 24-inch natural gas line was struck in Carroll County causing closures in both directions of MD 140 near MD 97.
BGE is on the scene securing the line and drivers are being detoured around the incident.
According to the Maryland State Highway Administration, eastbound MD 140 is closed and detoured at WMC Drive and westbound. MD 140 is also closed and detoured at Sullivan Road.
There is no word on when the lanes will reopen according to the Maryland State Highway Administration.

Eastbound lanes of MD 140 may be closed through late in the evening.
Drivers should plan for extra commuting time during the utility repair.
