BALTIMORE — Baltimore Police are investigating after a teen was rescued at Roosevelt Park Pool on Wednesday.
Police say just after 12:30 p.m., they received a call in reference to a water rescue.
Deputy Commissioner Richard Worley said police located several young people who had somehow gotten into the pool when it was closed.
Worley also says a young man made his way to the deep end of the pool and did not come back up.
Medics got to the pool and began to perform CPR. He was taken to an area hospital, where he is in critical condition.
"This is something that could have been totally avoidable," said Mayor Brandon Scott.
Neighbors in Hampden did not go on camera, but told WMAR pool break-ins are a long-standing issue here.
They said the fence is too low.
It's a sad case of deja-vu from July of last year.
At the exact same pool, a 15-year-old went to the hospital after he nearly drowned after-hours.
Baltimore Police are still looking into why the juveniles were at the pool, and how they got in.
Mayor Scott said the fact he’s in the hospital is why homicide investigators are involved.
Homicide detectives are investigating the incident.
