BALTIMORE — A child with a gunshot wound is driven to Sinai Hospital just after 7:00 on Sunday who later died from her injuries, and now, the focus turns to what happened inside an apartment building on Park Heights Avenue.

“It’s an upbeat building, you know, and everybody now is like sad,” said Tracy Mack, “You can see it in their face. That’s a shame for something like that to happen to a little kid."

Police have identified the victim as 2-year-old Charlee Gamble, and while detectives try to piece together what happened.

“It’s heartbreaking,” said Reggie Molock, “I don’t know. I’m going to find out what’s going on.”

Mayor Brandon Scott shares in the community’s frustration.

“We should be looking at the adults around their child,” said Scott, “There is no way on earth that a two-year-old baby should be gone from a gunshot wound in a place full of people that love that young person.”

The shooting also comes in a community that is no stranger to violence and some residents say it’s never been worse.

“Our kids don’t know about half of the stuff that goes on around the neighborhood, because we have to keep it from them,” said Yehoshua Goldfinger, “I don’t know what’s happening, and I don’t know why this is happening now, but I can tell you that it’s worse than I’ve ever seen it since I grew up here.”

If you have any information, which could help police with this shooting case, you’re asked to call Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP.
