Police: Two people dead after being struck by Amtrak train in Southwest Baltimore

BALTIMORE — Baltimore City Police is investigating after two people were struck by an Amtrak train in Southwest Baltimore.

Officers with the Baltimore City Police Department helped members of the Amtrak Police Monday night with the incident in the 400 block of North Smallwood Street around 7:10 pm.

Police say the victims, a man and a woman, were killed.

According to Amtrak officials, Amtrak train 97 was traveling from New York City to Miami at 5:50 pm when both victims trespassed on the track and were struck by the train.

None of the of the 161 passengers or crew onboard were injured.

Authorities say Amtrak Police are leading the investigation.
