Homicide ruled in "highly suspicious" Aberdeen fire that killed three

ABERDEEN, Md. — Three people are dead following a Monday morning apartment fire in Aberdeen.

Without going into details police said the circumstances are highly suspicious, leading them to classify the incident as a homicide.

It happened after 5:30am at the Highland Commons complex on Roosevelt Avenue.

A sprinkler system initially alerted the fire department.

The bodies of two unidentified adult women and man were discovered on the second floor of the building.

Detectives believe they were targeted, as each suffered what's described as "traumatic injuries consistent with a homicide." Investigators are also classifying the fire as arson.
