DELAWARE — Delaware State Police have identified the man they say fatally shot an Elkton, Maryland, couple at a veterans cemetery in Delaware Friday morning.
Police identified the suspect as 29-year-old Sheldon Francis.
According to police, a married Maryland couple in their 80s were the victims in a shooting at a veterans cemetery in Delaware.
Police on Friday night identified the shooting victims as an 86-year-old man and 85-year-old woman from Elkton, Maryland.
The wife was pronounced dead at the scene. The husband was taken to the hospital and was in critical condition Friday night.
On Saturday, the husband died from his injuries at the hospital.
The two were at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear on Friday morning when they were shot.
The suspect engaged in a shootout with police and was later found dead in a wooded area. No officers were injured.
