The Calvert Marine Museum blends pre-history, natural history, and maritime heritage with fun, interactive exhibits in beautiful Solomons Island.
Visitors can spend a full day at the museum, with many interactive displays (including a touch pool for the kids!) as well as fossils and a life sized megaladon skeleton. Guests can also take a cruise around the bay and admire the historical working boats of the Chesapeake. Want to make a vacation of it? The museum owns the Cove Point Lighthouse and Keeper’s House. Guests are welcome to explore the grounds, seasonally. The Keeper’s House can also be rented out on a weekly or half-weekly basis. Renters can enjoy gorgeous waterfront views of the Chesapeake Bay, along with beach access that is perfect for fossil hunting.
In addition to a wide variety of educational and community outreach events, CMM boasts a dynamic summer concert series. The Waterside Music Series has been a tradition in Solomons for over thirty years, and supports the museum’s membership and educational efforts. The 2019 season has already welcomed Kane Brown, Ryan Hurd, and Earth, Wind & Fire. Remaining performers include Brett Eldredge, Cassadee Pope, Gavin DeGraw, and the Spin Doctors.
