Chesapeake Urology - Prostate Cancer Awareness Month

Posted
and last updated

September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. More than 190,000 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer this year, making it the second most common cancer among men. There is a 50 - 60% increased risk for African-American men.

Immunotherapy is an approved treatment method for those with advanced stage cancer. In a new trial, all men benefited from immunotherapy, but African American men lived over 4.5 years compared with 2.5 years for Caucasian men – a difference of more than 20 months and a nearly 50% reduction in the risk of death.

Chesapeake Urology offers personalized treatment plans and has several convenient locations. Learn more here.
