The Eye Center at GBMC provides a full spectrum of services for eye health, including treating thyroid eye disease, which can cause painful inflammation and vision loss.

Symptoms of the disease include redness, puffiness, tearing, eyelid retraction, and bulging eyes. While thyroid eye disease can happen at any time, women between the ages of 40-50 are most at risk.

Treatments are available, including comfort measure to deal with inflammation, but The Eye Center will soon offer a new FDA approved medication to stop inflammation. The Eye Center utilizes many cutting edge treatments, and staff stays up to date on the newest and best treatment options.
