For almost 25 years, Brendan McElroy has sought to teach responsibility and life skills through the sport of swimming. Working at the JCC of Greater Baltimore for the last 10 years, he has built a team that embodies the diversity of the Greater Baltimore Community.
His program at the JCC has cultivated nationally ranked competitors and scholar athletes while being open to all children. Along with a full schedule of competitive meets and summer swim league competitions, the team from the JCC participates in a variety of programs intended to increase the reach of the sport of swimming, including the National Black Heritage Meet in Cary, NC; co-sponsoring the Unity Long Course Championship; and offering lessons to new swimmers through the Make-A-Splash program and a weeklong series of free swim lessons held before memorial Day.
