This is the second heat wave in a week, the third heat wave of 2019 and to add insult to injury it's also been humid making it feel like the upper 90s to triple digits!
The heat and humidity have led to the eruption of afternoon/evening thunderstorms. Yesterday some of the storms were severe. Today and tomorrow more severe weather is on tap with the primary threat being gusty damaging winds.
The timing of the thunderstorms and threat for severe weather is usually not good during summer because of the evening commute but, now, it will not only be affecting rush hour but Independence Day Celebrations.
Yes, Mother nature is bringing her own fireworks to the celebrations this year in the form of showers and thunderstorms.
Stay cool, safe and happy Independence Day!
