A Baltimore police officer was found dead in the harbor Tuesday, and police say his death was likely an accident.
Around 11:50 pm. Baltimore police went to check on officer Prashanth Davis in the 500 block of Harborview Drive after he didn't report for duty.
When they arrived, officers found a man face down in the water between a boat and the dock. The man was later identified as 34-year-old Davis. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say Davis was a 7-year veteran and active member of the Baltimore Police Department. He was assigned to the northern district.
Davis lived on a boat in that area and his death is believed to be accidental, police said.
“This is a very sad day for the men and women of the Baltimore Police Department,” Interim Commissioner Kevin Davis said in a release. “On behalf of the entire agency, we offer our heartfelt condolences to the family of Officer Prashanth Davis.”
